She also points out that their attitude towards the land is materialistic- in terms of what the Earth can be used for, instead of the Earth being good in and of itself.

Pocahontas (accurately) points out that the attitude that John Smith and the Virginia Company take towards any non-white people is that they're savages. I think this is a lovely song with some great messages, notably regarding racism and respect for nature. Even our food is the best as we have combined our herbs and spices to make a few delicious and fulfilling meals.I'm going to touch on all the things I like about this song before I get into why I cut it, as the good really outnumber the bad. And we all get along well as we made friends from different races and you will be surprised to see that those friends are there for you no matter what, rich or poor we are for each down here. In the Caribbean everyone grew up with each other, Blacks, Whites, Spanish, Indian, Chinese etc. Despite the various races we must come together in a reformation and learn from the past in an attempt to not let history repeat itself, get to know one other, your cultures and personalities and do not the your colour define you.

I believe this song goes into depth about racism and that, until you learn the ways of other persons of different races and backgrounds you will never truly understand them and in order to see the world through their eyes you must appreciate and respect their culture and/or religion, learn to walk the footsteps of a stranger suggests this and so you can find out meaningful things about said person and get to know them not for their skin colour but also what their soul and personality says about them, no one should be discriminated because of colour and if you do this then you will never truly appreciate the world for what it is, as this song states come run the hidden trails of the forest, this is an invitation from Pocahontas to John to come and see what my world looks like, come and experience what I do and see who is really the savage by destroying trees and the rich soil, in life we must be open-minded to those around us as not everyone grew up or think like you do. You can paint with all the colors of the wind We need to paint with all the colors of the wind We need to sing with all the voices of the mountain If you cut it down then you'll never knowĪnd you'll never hear the wolf cry to the blue corn moonįor whether we are white or copper skinned The rainstorm and the river are my brothers
